Simple Single Sign-On

Monday, September 12th, 2005

opengroup.org: Single Sign-On : …Single sign-on (SSO) is mechanism whereby a single action of user authentication and authorization can permit a user to access all computers and systems where he has access permission, without the need to enter multiple passwords. Single sign-on reduces human error, a major component of systems failure and is therefore highly desirable but difficult to implement…

Jon Udell in Password Generator Revisited states …Currently I do maintain separate strong passwords for a set of high-value accounts. And, as per the /. article, I do write them down in an encrypted database which is guarded by its own master passphrase. Meanwhile, for my various and endlessly proliferating low-value accounts — I can’t seem to get through a week without having to create a bunch of new ones — I’m transitioning to the password generator…

Secrets of screencasting : …I’ve mentioned Nic Wolff’s nifty SSO (single sign-on) solution several times before. It’s a simple JavaScript hack that empowers people to do something about a critical IT dilemma: weak passwords that are guiltily reused everywhere

The greasemonkey user script Password Composer doesnot work any longer in Mozilla Firefox Beta 1

Anyway, I am transitioning to Chris Zarate’s Password generator

Steve Pavlina: How to Find the Best Diet for You : …Through experimentation I found that the best diet I’ve tried so far is an all-raw, whole foods, vegan diet. No caffeine. No supplements. No sugar. No artificial or processed foods. No junk…Call me any names you want, as long as you don’t call me a marketer. That would hurt my feelings…

Should I be proud or sad ?

You are not mobilised

Saturday, September 3rd, 2005

The computer at the Singapore Civil Defence Force has been calling the phone at home since afternoon every 1/2 hour and delivering message that number 68440844 should be called immediately

When I call this number and provide my NRIC, the message is “You are not mobilised”

It looks like our number is in the database by mistake

I have been able to reach a MAJor at SCDF and the MAJor states “I will see what i can do”

I have told the MAJor that we have a baby at home and cannot wake up every 1/2 hour to answer the phone !

The SCDF should consider providing the NRIC number in the automated message so that it is easy to fix such issues !
